About Us

Jazz Choreography Enterprises, Inc. (JCE), is a nonprofit corporation formed in 2007 whose mission is to encourage the creation of jazz dance in concert form. Our goal is to present choreography in a variety of jazz styles, created and performed by people of various ages and levels of experience. To that end, we produce The New York Jazz Choreography Project twice a year. These shows give choreographers much needed opportunities to develop their technical skills and creativity before live audiences. And they give audiences the chance to see jazz dance as the rich art form it is, with its glorious variety of styles and cultural influences.

JCE also holds workshops to educate dancers and choreographers. We have offered classes in musical theatre dance, partnering, and lyrical/contemporary jazz taught by Vic DiMonda, Alan Spaulding, and Tracie Stanfield, who are participating choreographers in The New York Jazz Choreography Project. We plan to hold three or four workshops every year.

Future Plans

Shows featuring the work of a small group of choreographers to be chosen from those who have presented their work in the semiannual performances.

Informal showings and lecture/demonstrations, which would allow audience members to ask questions of the choreographers and learn about jazz styles and history.
